Havana, Cuba_ Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers of the Republic of Cuba, opened the Strategic Exercise Bastion, to be held from Wednesday until Friday, the digital site of Radio Habana Cuba publishes.
In a message to the nation, transmitted live by Radio Havana Cuba and the Cuban television, the president said that Bastion 2016 is part of the doctrine of the war of the entire people, strategic foundation of the country's defense.
The simulacrum seeks to increase the level of preparedness in all instances of the Communist Party of Cuba, the government, central government bodies, companies and units of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) and the Ministry of Interior (MININT) to face different enemy actions.
On this occasion, due to the damage caused by Hurricane Matthew in Guantánamo province, the president of the National Defense Council decided to exclude its leaders and command staff, since it is necessary to concentrate all the efforts in the recovery phase.
