Havana, Cuba_ The Strategic Exercise Bastion 2016 concludes this Friday in Cuba, after three days of intense preparation for the defense and in correspondence with the doctrine of the War of the Entire People, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.

National Defense Days will be held on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20, with the participation of units of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) and other groups of the territorial defensive system.

On the second day of the exercise, the Cuban people and military institutions carried out activities to increase their capacity to respond to possible armed aggressions.

Young men, women and troops participated in actions to protect against mass extermination weapons, to protect economic objectives, while the defense councils were prepared in a simulacrum of systematic scorched phase of the enemy.

Rescue and salvage maneuvers, shooting practice with reduced caliber and an antiaircraft artillery piece, tactical appreciation of the terrain and use of means of protection against chemical attacks were also carried out.

Army Corps General Joaquín Quinta Solas, FAR’s deputy minister, said that the results of the Strategic Exercise Bastion 2016 will allow a strengthening of the defense of each territory.

After a tour of different centers in the central provinces, Quinta Solas observed the integral preparation received by the members of the defense councils at all levels, in the regions and military units.

The objective of the simulacrum, which is carried out every four years, is the training of the management and command bodies of the different structures in charge of national and territorial defense in the organization of the work.
