Havana, Cuba__ The Spanish chain Iberostar Hotels and Resorts has announced today it will manage, starting in Januray 2017, the Riviera Hotel, an iconic establishment in Havana from the 1950''s, Prensa Latina reports.

With a rich history, it is on a privileged location in Havana, right facing the waterfront in the Vedado neighbourhood. Works of arts by renowned Cuban artists embellish its decoration.

The Mallorca based company said through a press release that the 352-room hotel will be the second it will be managing in the Cuban capital and its twelfth on the island and it will operate under the name of Iberostar Riviera.

Opened in 1957, the five-star hotel will shortly undergo an integral renovation, including its famous Copa Room Cabaret and surrounding areas, before its category is raised to Premium Gold.

The America general director of the Iberostar Group, Enric Noguer, said that by taking the management of Riviera Hotel, the company is making an important leap towards consolidating its presence in Havana.

The Spanish chain manages another 11 hotels in Cuba, Riviera will be its twelfth and will also add the thirteenth in 2017, the Iberostar Bella Vista Varadero, a 827-room hotel.
