Havana, Cuba__ Cuba closed 2016 with improvement in the main health indicators, the life expectancy grew, with great results in the maternal and child program, according to Radio Habana Cuba.

Dr. Roberto Morales Ojeda, Minister of Public Health (MINSAP), said that Cuba is among the 20 nations with the best results in relation to the infant mortality rate, it is in line with the most developed countries in Europe and Japan.

According to Morales Ojeda, a much more stable epidemiological situation, compared to previous years is among the achievements.

"The advances were registered in the heat of the transformations that take place in the sector, amid the application of the Guidelines of the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution," the Cuban health minister said.

"We have also increased the levels of activity in primary and secondary care, and undoubtedly the quality and satisfaction of the people with services grow," he stressed during a tour for health care units in the capital, such as the hospital Calixto Garcia, a clear example of the effort to revitalize the health assistance.

The head of Ministry of Public Health said that they have carried out construction and equipment actions in more than 9,000 objects of work, more than 2 thousand 500 of them in Havana.

He reiterated their confidence of fulfill the commitment they made when they signed the concept of Revolution, of assuming Fidel’s legacy and to continue the battle, together with Army General Raúl Castro, the historic leadership, the Party and the people.
