Havana, Cuba__ The Council of State, on the proposal of its President Raul Castro Ruz, , agreed to designate as Minister of the Interior, Vice Admiral Julio César Gandarilla Bermejo, current deputy minister of this government body, Radio Reloj publishes.

Vice Admiral Gandarilla Bermejo, member of the Party Central Committee and a deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power, has a long, distinguished record of service, holding different responsibilities within the Revolutionary Armed Forces, beginning within the ranks and reaching the position of head of Military Counterintelligence, which he held for the 16 years.
