Camagüey, Cuba_ The 10th edition of the International Symposium Challenges in the Handling and Management of Cities, taking place in Camaguey promotes the analysis regarding the interaction between environment and the patrimony, Granma newspaper reports.

Organized on the occasion of the 502 anniversary of the founding of Santa Maria del Puerto del Principe Village and sponsored by the Office of the Historian of Camaguey (OHCC), the event brings together about 150 experts and researchers who reflect on ways to adapt the solutions to the realities of each place.

The opening session has a dissertation by Orlando Rey Santos, adviser to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA by its Spanish initals) who assured that there is a need for appropriate public politics to each city, supported by the cooperation between the entities and the active citizen participation.

According to Lilian Mendieta Sosa, specialist of the Master Plan of the OHCC, it still remains many things to be done in terms of cooperation, dialogue and concrete actions to achieve sustainable urban model actions.

"What's done so far in this city is just an attempt to solve many accumulated problems, it requires a comprehensive view of determining priorities for investment", the specialist said.

The X International Symposium Challenges in the Handling and Management of Cities, is also dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the creation of the local organs of People's Power, will session until tomorrow February 3rd.
