Havana, Cuba_ A campaign of education, prevention and diagnosis of pre-malignant and malignant skin diseases, on the occasion of World Cancer Day on February 4 wil be carried out in Cuba under the slogan “Mole Day”, Prensa Latina reported.

During this crusade, dermatologists will conduct an active research in clinics, schools and workplaces, where they will give educational talks, an experts from the Public Health Ministry (MINSAP).

Dr. Olaine Gray, coordinator for a special working group on skin cancer from MINSAP, recalled that many countries conducted on February 4 a common research for skin cancer screening.

Cuba records more than 8,000 new cases of skin cancer every year, she stated. Only early diagnosis can cure the disease, she added.

Dr. Gray explained that among the most common forms of skin cancer are basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma (the most aggressive one).

Taking place under the tagline "We can. I can," World Cancer Day will explore how everyone, as a collective or as individuals, can do their part to reduce the global burden of cancer.
