Havana, Cuba__ Cuba is ready to hold the First Conference of Cooperation of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), to be held on March 8 in Havana, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.

The event is going to be attended by guests from international organizations and countries that, can contribute to the development of the mechanism.

The meeting will also serve for the Caribbean and Central American States to share experiences on knowledge and technology.

The Cuban Foreign Ministry interim director general for Latin America and the Caribbean, Carlos Zamora Rodríguez, explained that the cooperation has been carried out in areas such as tourism, trade, transport and confrontation with climate change and that the meeting will review projects in those areas.

Cuba has worked with the Caribbean area on issues such as confronting natural disasters, the diplomat said, adding that as part of that collaboration it has been present the solidarity with Haiti, one of the most vulnerable nations in the area.

The 22nd meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Caribbean Association, from which Cuba holds the pro tempore presidency from 2015, will be held on the 10th.

The meeting will serve to bring elements to senior officials and is also contextualized in the process of revitalizing the mechanism founded on July 24th, 1994 in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, promoted by the Cuba, he said.

Other meeting will be held on the 11th when the fifth Caricom-Cuba ministerial meeting will take place to review Havana's relations with that bloc, Zamora Rodriguez explained.

All the events will be held in the capital’s Havana Libre hotel, he said.

The diplomat himself affirmed in a recent interview published by Cubaminrex that the AEC provides a space where Caribbean and continental island states, including Central America, Mexico, Venezuela and Colombia, can dialogue and exchange experiences, knowledge and technologies.

The AEC was the first regional organization to which Cuba was integrated as a full member and founder.
