Havana, Cuba_ Pope Francis, Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church departed today toward Cuba, scale on his way to Mexico, where he will hold a meeting with Russian Orthodox Patriarch, the first in almost a millennium between the leaders of the largest Christian congregations, Radio Reloj publishes.
This afternoon, Jose Marti International Airport in Havana will host the historic meeting where both primates will sign a joint statement.
There is great expectation all over the world about this conciliatory meeting which among the common points between the Bishop of Rome and Patriarch Kirill, is the concern about violence of religious radicalism.
"Cuba was selected as the host country for the conclave for being a neutral territory, where there are no denominational difficulties” Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State said.
