Ankara__ Turkey and Cuba will strengthen bilateral relations with the two-day visit Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez starts today in this capital, Prensa Latina publishes.
Rodriguez will meet with Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, Ismail Kahraman, before the scheduled meeting with his Turkish peer, Mevült Cavusoglu, on bilateral issues and current regional and international issues, according to a note issued by the host Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The economic exchanges between the two countries are not very high up to now, but there is a significant potential for their development, according to the Turkish Exporters' Association after its stay on the island in April 2016, and also Erdogan during his official visit in February 2015.
Turkish companies have shown interest in the Cuban energy, transportation, agriculture, food, textiles, biotechnology products for human and veterinary use, honey, sugar, coffee and citrus, as well as medical services.
Rodriguez's agenda also includes a meeting with members of the solidarity movement with the Caribbean nation.
Turkey and Cuba are celebrating in 2017 the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
