Cuba_ Representatives of the fishing industry of both countries renewed the Fisheries Agreements relative to the exploitation of that food in exclusive economic zones, with the purpose of guaranteeing the sustainability of the resources of the sea.
The signing was in charge of the Secretary of Agriculture of Mexico, José Calzada, and theMinister of the Food Industry of Cuba, MarÃa del Carmen de la Concepción González.
According to the statement from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food of Mexico, among the actions to be developed are the reconciliation of figures and payment of catch rights, as well as the review of the satellite monitoring program of Cuban vessels that have fishing license.
A specific cooperation agenda including biological-fishery investigations of the Red Grouper, the promotion and development of aquaculture in inland waters; the implementation of strategies for the lobster fishery, as well as training programs and comprehensive technical assistance were also agreed.
