Havana_ The agenda of the Gabonese leader begins today with a meeting with National People's Power Assembly President, Esteban Lazo, and other parliamentary authorities, Prensa Latina reports.
As part of his official stay in Havana, the visiting statesman will lay a wreath at the monument built to the African heroes at a Havana park.
Then, he will pay tribute to National Hero, Jose Marti, at the homonymous monument located at the Revolution Square in this capital.
Bongo, who started the visit yesterday, will hold talks with the Cuban President Raul Castro on issues of mutual and international interest.
In May of this year, Gabon’s Minister of Foreign Affais, Francophonie and Regional Integration, Pacome Moubelet, visited Cuba and expressed his government's intention to expand bilateral ties.
In that meeting he signed with Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez, an Agreement for Diplomatic Consultations to expand the contacts inter chancelleries and other representations of both ministries.
Cuba and Gabon established diplomatic relations in 1974 and their relations are stronger in areas such as health, education and sports.
