José Ramón Machado Ventura, Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Vice-President of the Councils of State and Ministers, pronounces the central words for the National Rebellion Day in the provisional Revolution Square of the Hermanos Cruz neighborhood in Pinar del RÃo.Â
In his words he emphasized that "July 26, a transcendental date in the history of the nation, provokes in us a particular mixture of emotions. This is the first time we celebrate the assault on the Moncada Barracks and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes without Fidel but this fact has not stopped him to being present in our people, in our daily work with the reaffirmation of the concept of Revolution.
The Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba praised the good results achieved by the westernmost province of Cuba in economic and health matters.
Cubadebate reproduced the words of Machado Ventura: "The reality of Pinar del Rio before 1959 has changed with the work of the Revolution in all spheres: health, education, agriculture in both rural and urban areas."
He added that although there is still many things to be done for achieving the takeoff of our economy, "we are convinced that the children of this untamed land will continue in the front line."
