Cuba_ A week dedicated to reflecting on the need for breastfeeding in the first months of life begins today around the world, focused on unifying the support of governments and society for their protection, Prensa Latina reports.

Building alliances to protect breastfeeding: for the common good, without conflicts of interest, is the central motto of the 2017 campaign, with an emphasis on the joint work of all sectors of society.

Considered a shield against nutritional problems, education and poverty, this practice presents scientific evidence that it can play a key role for the baby's health in confronting no communicable diseases.

Data from global health organizations point out that its implementation helps save up to 1.5 million children under the age of five.

Cuba joins this global campaign with several results, although health authorities insist on the importance of making it more widespread.
