Havana, Cuba_ The International Cantina Event King of Kings will take place on October 5 and 6 as part of the activities for the 200th anniversary of El Floridita bar-restaurant, in which eight contestants will compete for the title of the best Daiquirí of the world, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.
Participants will be the winners of the contest El Rey del Daiquiri, among them the Argentine Christian Delpech, 19 times champion of the world in the Flair mode.
Ariel Blanco, director of El Floridita, announced that each competitor should present a cocktail of his inspiration, while important moments of the competition will be projected on screens placed in outdoor areas, for the enjoyment of passersby and other guests to the event.
During the event, Havana Club Internacional S.A. will present a new premium white rum for the production of Daiquirí, and at the Gran Hotel Kempinski-La Habana, very close to the place, they will inaugurate the Constant bar, whose name pays homage Constantino Ribalaigua Vert, who owned the famous bar-restaurant during several lustrums.
El Floridita bar-restaurant receives more than 250 thousand tourists from all over the world during the year, and about 80 percent of Americans arriving in Havana come to that unit.
After two centuries of its foundation, our main challenge is to renew without losing the tradition of the Cuban cocktail, reflected the manager of the prestigious gastronomic center internationally known as the cradle of the Daiquiri.
Heads of state and government, as well as celebrities of culture and sport, both from Cuba and the world, visit the site where 17 types of the renowned drink are made from tropical and exotic flavors such as mango, banana, kiwi or strawberry.
