During the last hours the intense Hurricane Irma has continued to move to the northwest west and with this trajectory, today Thursday from noon, with the proximity of Irma to the eastern end of the country, it will start to arrive big waves to the north coast of this part of the country, which will generate tides in Guantánamo and Holguín, The Meteorology Institute reports.

From the end of the afternoon this situation will extend to the coast of Holguín, the heights of the waves will increase between four and six meters and will begin coastal flooding in low areas of the north coast of Guantánamo, that later will extend to the coasts of Holguín .

At six o'clock in the morning the center of Irma was estimated at 20.1 degrees north latitude and 68.6 degrees west longitude, positioning it 310 kilometers to the southeast of the Turks.

Irma has weakened slightly and now has sustained maximum winds of 285 kilometers per hour, with higher gusts, a central pressure of 921 hectoPascal and keeps moving to the northwest west with a speed of translation that has increased to 28 kilometers per hour.

In the next 12 to 24 hours, Irma will remain as an intense Category 5 hurricane, with similar course and little change in its speed of movement, to move during the morning by the seas to the north of Hispaniola, approaching the Turks and Caicos Islands at night.
