Havana, Cuba_The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected the attack against the constitution and democracy in Brasil, which has turned former president ,, into target of legal and parliamentary attacks, which are unjustifiable and disproportionate, Prensa Latina reported.

The statement added the outrageous manipulation of the fight against corruption intends to discredit and criminalize an emblematic leader of Our America.

The note also stated that it seeks to discredit one of the most combative political organizations in the region and to overthrow the legitimate government of President Dilma Roussef and putting an end to the progresses processes in the region.

The Cuban ministry stressed that the campaign against Lula and the attempt by the Brazilian parliament to overthrow the president have raised a wave of condemnation from the Brazilian government and its allies, to grassroots organizations, trade unions and social movements.

The statement went on to say that sectors of the police and the legislative and judicial systems of certain states in our region, in close alliance with the media, oligarchies and imperialism are using underhand methods to impose by force that which they have not been capable of gaining at the polls.

"The government of the Republic of Cuba has no doubt that the truth will come out and that the working-class people of Brazil will close ranks in defense of the political and social progress achieved by the government of the Worker's Party," the statement adds.
