Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers presided over today in Santiago de Cuba the patriotic act for the 149th anniversary of the launch of the War of Independence and the abolition of slavery, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.

The act began with a military interment ceremony of the remains of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes and Mariana Grajales that will rest next to the pantheons of José Martí and the leader of the Cuban Revolution,Fidel Castro Ruz, in order than visitors may pay tribute to both patriots more expeditiously.

During the ceremony, Habana’s historian remembered the historical event  and highlighted episodes of both heroes’ lives.

At the end of the act, Raul Castro made a tour of the cemetery where he paid tribute to José Martí, Fidel Castro, those killed on July 26, 1953 and in the internationalist missions of the Caribbean nation.
