Havana, Cuba_ Federica Mogherini, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez will chaired today the seventh session of ministerial talks between the European Union and Cuba, Granma newspaper reports.
Abelardo Moreno, Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister, stated that Cuba and the EU have made considerable progresses on agreeing on the issues being discussed in the final document.
He also commented that as part of the process it also remains some precisions to the text besides the political verifications for both sides.
“It has a political preamble that respects the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Cuba”, Moreno explained about the components of the agreement.
The document also expresses the UE’s opposition to coercive measures as those included in the economic blockade imposed by the United States to the Island for more than five decades”, he added.
Besides the introduction, the agreement includes a chapter in relation to the political dialogue, bilateral cooperation and sectorial policies and a third one on trade.
At the same time the document has among its principle the reciprocity, the total respect to the states sovereignty, the legal framework and the institutional legislation of the parts and the rejection to the interference in the internal affairs of the nations, Moreno added.
