Havana_ The member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Vice-President of the Councils of State and Ministers, attended today the closing of the II International Symposium 'The Cuban Revolution: Genesis and Historical Development', carried out in Havana since last day 24, Prensa Latina publishes.
At the end of the event, the president of the Cuban History Institute, René González, referred to the importance of studying the legacy of Fidel Castro, the leader of the process begun on January 1, 1959.
"Fidel marked a before and after in the history of this continent and his legendary figure will forever be a referent of dignity, solidarity, integrity and wisdom," he said.
Gonzalez said that Fidel came to history as an antecedent to find out why events and always insisted on the importance of their study.
The historian said that there are times of challenge and struggle for the Cuban process, while expressing his confidence in the victory.
He considered that the USA is still looking for excuses for the return to the years of confrontation with our country.
The academic announced the conclusion of the organization of the historical archive of Commander Camilo Cienfuegos, one of the Heroes of the Revolution and said that it will be inaugurated next January 8 coinciding with the day the so-called bearded entered Havana in 1959, after overthrowing the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista”, Gonzalez said.
The II International Symposium, sponsored by the Institute of Cuban History, was attended by about 130 historians from countries such as Chile, Puerto Rico and Spain.
The third edition of the event is scheduled for October 29, 30 and 31 of 2018.
