Cuba_ Specialists from eight countries will attend the Ninth Cuban Meteorology Congress, which will be held from December 4 to 8 at the Tryp Habana Libre hotel, Cubasí reports.

The event will be attended by representatives from Brazil, the United States, Colombia, Chile, Spain, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay.

Andrés Plana Lavié, president of the Meteorological Society of Cuba, announced that several scientific activities will be developed jointly.

The First Seminar on Climatology will be held during the meeting as well as the second on pollution of the atmosphere and the fourth one on tropical cyclones, and also the second meeting on History of Meteorology.

The participants in the event will discuss issues such as climate change and variability, tropical cyclones, biometeorology, renewable energy, risks, vulnerability and mitigation of meteorological disasters.

They will also debate aspects related to the physics of the atmosphere, agricultural, marine and aeronautical meteorology, the child phenomenon and tropospheric ozone will also occupy the attention of the attendees.

As part of the program of activities, they will award the National Meteorology Prize for the Work of Life in the scientific category and in the Scientific-Technical Services section.

They will also announce the winners of the first meteorological photography competition in its different modalities and the Benito Viñes Award, which distinguishes authors of relevant research.
