Havana, Cuba_ The VI International Meeting of Agro-ecology, Sustainable Agriculture and Cooperativism, concluded this Friday with the presence of 250 delegates from 19 countries, Radio Reloj publishes. 

At the closing of the event, the president of the National Association of Small Farmers, Rafael Santiesteban, said that it was a week of fruitful exchanges on the implementation of organic agriculture, and different organizational forms with emphasis on cooperativism.

He stressed that the participants also addressed issues related to the need for policies that promote rural development in a sustainable manner, gender equity and youth participation.

Santiesteban meant that in the debates the personality of our Commander Fidel Castro was present; an example of integrity of word and action, whose work and thought is a guiding light for Cuba and the world.

For a better world

During  the closing session of the VI International Agro-ecology, Sustainable Agriculture and Cooperatives Meeting, the delegates approved the final declaration, which states that agro-ecology is an alternative to struggle for a better world.

The Puerto Rican delegate Katia Aviés, said that the event allowed them to visit farms and cooperatives in all the provinces of the country, where they could appreciate the beautiful work of the Revolution in the field.

She affirmed that the experiences transmitted by each one of the participants in the event, reflect the resistance of the organized social movements, with the leadership of women and young people.

The meeting ended with the convening of the seventh International Meeting on Agro-ecology, Sustainable Agriculture and Cooperativism, to be held in our country in November 2019.
