Havana_ Cuban Vice President José Ramón Machado Ventura received the general secretary of the Farabundo Martí Front for National Liberation of El Salvador (FMLN), Medardo González, who is chairing a delegation from El Salvador to visit the island, responding to an invitation from the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Granma newspaper reports. 

Both leaders exchanged in a fraternal atmosphere about the main issues of the regional political conjuncture, experiences in partisan work and, in particular, on the agreements of the 7th Congress of the PCC, held in April 2016 and ratified the mutual interest to continue deepening the ties that join the two parties and peoples.

José Ramón Balaguer, head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the PCC, was also present for Cuba, while the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and secretary of the FMLN organization, José Luis Merino, was present for El Salvador, as also Ambassador Sandra Alvarado and other members of the delegation.
