Havana_ Esteban Lazo, president of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament), paid tribute in the Santa Ifigenia cemetery of Santiago de Cuba to José Martí, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, Mariana Grajales and Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, the Cuban News Agency publishes.

The vice-president of the Parliament, Ana María Mari Machado, executives of organizations of the central government of the State; the secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in the province, Lázaro Expósito; and the president of the local government, Beatriz Johnson, accompanied Lazo.

During his visit to that eastern city, the Cuban parliamentary leader pointed out that beyond the responsibility that belongs to the construction sector, the solution of the housing problem is an issue in which the entire Cuban society must actively participate.

It is about defining in each territory the response to the call of Army General Raúl Castro, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, to face the accumulated deterioration in the country's housing fund, to which the serious damages caused by the Hurricanes Sandy, Matthew and Irma are added, he said.

Lazo met this Sunday in Santiago de Cuba with leaders of the PCC, the government and mass organizations, as well as business executives. He also visited the neighboring province of Guantánamo, and visited production centers and services in the capital city, in which he exchanged with his workers.
