Mayabeque, Cuba_ The award ceremony of the contest Features of a Temple and its Social Setting, a tribute to San Julian de los Guines, representative deity of the city, took place this Wednesday night in the former Villa del Mayabeque.
In an event sponsored by the Provincial Center of the Arts of this demarcation, painters of this demonstration gathered to look for a space to highlight the identity values ​​of this community.
Works from Luis Alberto Saldaña, Jose Suarez Verde, José Luis Medina Hernandez, Miguel Angel Gonzalez Togás and Aramis Suarez Segura were presented in the event.
The jury, integrated by well-known artists from Mayabeque, awarded two mentions and a grand prize. The works that deserved the acknowledgments were The Last Door (La última puerta) from the authorship of Jose Suarez Verde and Identities (Identidades) of Luis Alberto Saldaña.
While the Grand Prize was given to the work Tribute to San Julian de José Luis Medina Hernandez for its original and concise way to show the history of the town of San Julian de los Guines since its foundation.
The occasion also served to pay a posthumous tribute to the late artist Hector Hernandez Güines who died on Wednesday morning.
