Mayabeque, Cuba_ The pioneer Chanel Melissa Hernández Díaz from the Clodomira Acosta primary school in the municipality of Güines won the first place in the National Contest “Trazaguas”, in the literature mode. 

This contest, sponsored by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the National Institute of Water Resources and other institutions, promotes good practices for the rational use of water, a vital element for men.

In his poetry Chanel Hernández highlights the importance of rain for biodiversity and conservation.

Mayabeque also distinguished the winners of the Prize in the National Zero Waste Competition. They are Gabriela Rodríguez, from Güines, and Antony García Tirso, from Nueva Paz. The latter obtained the award in the photography section.

Kendry Fernández García, won a Special Prize at the Trazaguas 2018 provincial event. His work was related to the community of irrigators of Güines.

Engineer Dulce María Rodríguez Lugo, promoter of the project The Water, Friend of Boys and Girls, refers to the responsibility of children in the use, saving and protection of water.
