Mayabeque, Cuba_ The Maternal and Child Program (PAMI) has priority in the municipality of San Nicolás to guarantee the integral medical attention of the mother and the child.
The monitoring of pregnant women at high risk and the implementation of knowledge of genetics are among the actions, which allow indicators above the first world countries.
According to the Justa Velazquez, responsible for the PAMI in the locality, every woman during the gestation stage attends no less than 17 consultations and 30 diagnostic tests to prevent their children from suffering from serious diseases or congenital malformations.In the municipality of 22 live births there are two underweight for an index of nine and infant mortality remains at zero.
In addition, 115 pregnant women are under control, mainly those at high risk.
