Mayabeque, Cuba_ A total of 121 works were submitted to the Juan Candelario Bacallao Journalism Competition in the specialties of radio, television, written and digital press, photography and design. Six panels evaluated the informative proposals of 2017 and the files for the selection of the Raúl Gómez García Provincial Prize, for the work of life and the annuals. 

The delegation of the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC), of Radio Camoa, stood out for the number of programs sent. Of the 20 works in digital journalism, 15 were from that radio station. In Radio, 41 spaces competed, 20 arrived from the station in the capital of Mayabeque, San José de las Lajas, some 46 kilometers from Havana.

Telemayabeque led the television proposals with 24, while Mayabeque newspaper was present with 25, most of them journalistic genres and to a lesser extent designs and photographs.

On this occasion, television and radio documentaries competed independently, thus fulfilling a request made in 2017 by members of Upec and approved by the Provincial Executive. In total, 8 productions were presented, six from the radio and two from the television.

The results will be pubished in the month of April during the Victoria de Girón Ideological Day.
