Mayabeque, Cuba - The women of Güines are already in Congress, this was confirmed by the member of the National Secretariat of the Cuban Women Federation (FMC) in charge of the ideological tasks, Osmaida Hernández Beleño, when exchanging with the organization's grassroots leaders, in regard to the organic process prior to the conclave that will have its final sessions on March 8 and 9, 2019.
"As part of the pre-congress strategies we talk with our cadres, leaders of delegations and blocks, actions that will last until June, therefore we will evaluate all the results that during this five-year period show the basic structures, detecting the deficiencies and in correspondence approving the measures that allow to revert the functional weaknesses.
When requesting her opinion about how she observes the development of the process in Güines, the leader argued: "first to recognize the work of the members, especially this town because it has a Municipal Assembly of People's Power integrated in more than 50 percent by women and another significant amount serve as Presidents of Popular Councils. From this perspective, we can say that Cuba is the second country in the world with the largest number of women in Parliament, second after Rwanda."
