Mayabeque, Cuba_ "This province has been consolidated year after year as an efficient province in the production of potatoes", expressed the Minister of Agriculture, Gustavo Rodriguez Rollero during the day of voluntary work carried out in the Basic Unit of Cooperative Production (UBPC) "Battle of Loredo", belonging to the municipality of Batabanó. 

This Sunday was dedicated to the anniversaries 57 of the José Martí Pioneers Organization (OPJM) and 56 of the Young Communists League (UJC).

Rodríguez Rollero praised the farmers of Batabanó for "the quality of land preparation, planting and compliance with technical standards and ensured that when things are done well, good results are reaped."

The lands that were planted in Batabanó with seeds of national potatoes show yields superior to 20 tons per hectare, a figure higher than the previous year. In the settlements with seeds of foreign origin, the results must exceed this figure.

"What is being harvested from the fields today makes us think of expanding the planting areas of Mayabeque in the next potato season," said the Minister of Agriculture, adding, "we are going to wait for the end of the campaign, to have all the potatoes harvested, all the crop harvested and all the production in cold, but a very productive harvest is presaged ".
