Mayabeque, Cuba__ The bees breeders grouped in the Base Business Unit of Mayabeque, increased the beekeeping production of the province. Of the 7520 beehives with which they thought to close, 2018 began with 8,125, of which 8045 are productive.

According to Héctor David Rivero Suárez, head of production brigade, they changed more than 100 percent of the hives and for the present calendar they hope to do it at least once. For this, they have four hatcheries throughout the province that supply this demand.

Rivero Suárez added that they are inserted in a work of genetic improvement of the bee with the Apiculture Research Center (CIAPI) through which, at the end of 2017, they certified the breeding stock and aspire to certify three breeding sites.

The UEB Apiculture of Mayabeque serves the productive base of this demarcation, disseminated by its 11 municipalities and three of the capital, it commercializes all the products of the hive as propolis, honey, wax and pollen and channel the sale of queens between the three breeding places and the productive base.
