Mayabeque, Cuba_ A workshop on alternatives for the efficient management of water, was held at the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences in San José de las Lajas, with the participation of producers, technicians, researchers and communicators from several provinces of the country inserted in the Project of Local Agricultural Innovation (PIAL in Spanish).

After the usual presentations, farmers as group leaders work in teams  , responding to one of the principles of PIAL since its creation in 2000 to link science and peasant wisdom.

The dialogue facilitated the exchange of experiences and knowledge among the participants based on the natural conditions of each territory and the irrigation systems they use, with emphasis on the most effective for sowing and the use of this liquid to its maximum extent.

As an argument for teamwork, the Master of Science and professor at the University of Sancti Spíritus, Rubén Antonio Viera Marín, presented slides where they relate the distribution of water on the planet, its importance, the damages of the application of chemicals in agriculture and the different irrigation systems applied in the country.
