Mayabeque, Cuba_ A work based on inclusive practices in the promotion of reading for children, with and without intellectual disability, represented the province of Mayabeque in the Seventeenth Library Science Meeting.

Lic. Ana Lourdes Sorí Grana, as part of her Master’s thesis, provides tools of good practices of socio - educational insertion to attend the infants, young people and adolescents who attend these cultural institutions.

The project presented at José Martí National Library, headquarters of the scientific event, was conceived at the Faculty of Pedagogical Sciences of the Agrarian University Fructuoso Rodríguez of Mayabeque.

Under the slogan "For a Solid and United Library Sector", the participants presented their experiences on work in public and school institutions and in those that make up specific collections such as INFOMED.

The writer and journalist Marta Rojas received the Puertas de Espejo Prize, for the work El equipaje Amarillo (The Yellow Baggage), a book of great significance for the revolutionaries of the world and for Cuba.

During the event they presented the book Raices y Flores (Roots and Flowers) about the life and work of the Afro-Cuban librarian Marta Terry González.

The Raúl Ferrer Honorific Award was awarded to Miguel Barnet for his outstanding intellectual work.

The Seventeenth Scientific Library Conference, which was also attended by Colombians and Americans, was an extremely important event to exchange initiatives that contribute to the promotion of reading, according to Ana Lourdes Sorí.
