Mayabeque, Cuba_ As part of the Health Workers' Assistance Program, the Minister of the sector stimulated Dr. José Antonio Barrios Rodríguez, from Jaruco, with the delivery of a Geely car, in recognition of his more than 30 uninterrupted years practicing Medicine.

The letter sent by the Public Health executive, Doctor José Ángel Portal Miranda, and read by the Provincial Director of Health, Dr. Luis Armando Wong Corrales, highlights the professional career of José Antonio who has contributed to the formation of several generations of health workers in Jaruco.

Excited after the delivery of the car, Dr. José Antonio Barrios, Tony, as affectionately he is called by the residents of the locality, expressed his feelings to the local press.

"Since I became a doctor, my struggle has always been to save lives and alleviate the pain of patients. This recognition is thanks to the Cuban Revolution and the people for valuing my work. I have always with me the memory of my father, a peasant who educated us on the right path and today he would be proud to have a family of doctors.

I chose this profession and every day I feel more attracted to medicine. My greatest satisfaction is to medicate and cure the patient. My message to the doctors who start in such a human profession is that they should study and strive always to keep Cuban Medicine at the top”.

Dr. José Antonio Barrios Rodríguez is a Second Degree Specialist in Comprehensive General Medicine, a member of the Academic Committee and the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Mayabeque.
