Mayabeque, Cuba_ The role of the academy, in the development of society and in particular in the agricultural sector, was the subject of the lecture given, in Madruga, by the professor and researcher of the Vegetal Biotechnology Studies Center of the University of Granma, Engineer Mistervino Borges García.

The meeting was held with students and professors of the Municipal University Center, as part of the program of advice and training of the specialist, in Mayabeque, in coordination with the Institute of Animal Science (ICA).

"The role of the school goes beyond the training of professionals. Knowledge must be put to the benefit of the people”, Borges García said.

Putting into practice what has been learned in the field and being active in the tasks of agriculture, is an experience that favors the production of food and today is carried out by university students.

During this year the academic will maintain regular contacts with local producers and students, who apply a biotechnological innovation for the recovery of yam cultivation.
