Mayabeque, Cuba_ Mayabeque is within the project portfolio, to execute long-term loans, one of the external financing plans that complement the priority of the State budget.

The objective is to improve access to drinking water, sanitation and reduce pollutant loads in terrestrial waters.

According to the Granma newspaper, on the second day of the Cubagua 2019 Convention, it was known that Cuba annually allocates more than 400 million pesos in investments for the water sector.

The inclusion of the youngest province in this portfolio means the availability of this finite resource in the quality of life of the population and its availability for agricultural and industrial activities, among others.

Such efforts include the presence of international organizations that provide soft loans, to pay between 15 and 20 years, and donations for an amount of less than two million dollars, which are distributed according to the strategies of the national water plan.

The Director General of Infrastructure Development of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, engineer Ricardo Limias Díaz, said that with these external contributions, more than one million people average benefit from sanitation and drinking water services, both in quantity and in quality.
