Mayabeque, Cuba_ The Base Business Unit (UEB) Apiculture Mayabeque, established 8 years ago, maintain productive levels that mark milestones in the delivery of honey and sub products.

Consisting of 5 basic production units, located in the territory, the entity maintains contract relations with 10 Credit and Services Cooperatives (CCS) and all group together 38 private producers.

"The province has achieved these yields, in recent years, due to the transhumance of the hives to the flowering areas”, the head of production of the UEB, Hector David Rivero Suárez, commented.

"Transhumance in beekeeping slang is the same as grazing in livestock, but in this case we move the bees to their feeding areas”, Rivero Suárez said.

"We have the challenge of reaching 375 tons of products”, he added.
