Mayabeque, Cuba: Fewer days of harvest and more sugar production this year than in 2018, is the challenge of the workers of the Base Business Unit (UEB) Boris Luis Santa Coloma, of Madruga, who complete the details to enter operations next November.

According to the schedule, the harvest is planned for 156 days, applying the maximum to guarantee the stable flow of raw material to the industry and the levels of efficiency during the milling.

For this, the cane producing units have more than 360 thousand tons of the raw materials, with a yield exceeding 60 tons per hectare.

The sugar plan of the 2019-2020 harvest in the territory exceeds the real 2018, based on the optimal state of the factory, after repairs and the availability of sufficient raw material for this effort.

Already close to conducting the pre-start test, the Madruga sugar producers are committed to an efficient harvest, which keeps Boris Luis Santa Coloma among the best plants in the country, said Carlos Martínez, head of production of the entity.
