During the visit, Valdes Mesa knew details of the contract, the production rate, the stability of the process for the manufacture of Havana Club rum in Santa Cruz, and the production of more than 75 percent of brandy for aging and domestic production.

He also received information on the results of the West Mining Company, the main maintenance works and investments as well as the strategies to increase yields and work for the export of bentonite and phosphorite, products that are only produced in this factory of Mayabeque.

The also vice chairman of the State Council was concerned about the safety and security of resources, the compensation to the workers, according to their capacity and labor, and the role of the current generation in updating the Cuban economic model.
