San José de las Lajas, Mayabeque_ The producer of Radio Camoa, Michael García Pérez was awarded with the second place in the contest of sound documentaries in Spanish SONODOC 2017 carried out from November 7 to 10 in Santiago and Valparaíso, Chile, as reported by the Radio Camoa website. 

The prize-winning work is entitled "Lilú, a story about a clown", and tells the life story of Ana Perera, a woman from San José de las Lajas who leaves behind her religious vocation to become a playwright for children. Owner of national and international recognitions, of the affection of those who enjoy her art, the protagonist pours her testimony in a work where her work is documented for the public at different moments of her job.

The contest was sponsored by the forum, the Communication Institute of the University of Chile and the University of Playa Ancha, with the purpose of strengthening the community of producers of sound documentaries in Latin America.

The jury formed by Dr. Graciela Martínez Matías (teacher at UNAM and UACM, Mexico), Juan Carlos Roque (Cuban journalist based in the Netherlands, founder of SONODOC) and Karla Lechuga (researcher, founder of SONODOC, Mexico), evaluated 51 works from Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Spain, Cuba, Chile, Guatemala, Peru and Uruguay.

As evaluative criteria, the narrative intention was taken into account with the development of a story, the presence of a real story, as well as the skill and relevance in the management of sound resources.

The documentary, a proposal frequently used by the winner, "has its origins in cinema, and in the case of radio, acquires its own characteristics; it is a complex genre, whose realization is materialized in the rigor of the research, the appeal to other journalistic and radio genres, the exquisite recording of the sound reality that surrounds the real narrated stories, the creativity in the use of the expressive resources of the medium radio, " Radio Camoa’s producer said.

Michael said he was grateful for the prize received, because "it is a highly relevant event of international level, with a wide summon. The fact that my work has been recognized with a second place is a source of pride for the realization team linked to its gestation ".

This award is added to others obtained in the largest of the Antilles and internationally by this producer, who assumes the challenge, in each proposal, to make art through sound.
