San José de las Lajas, Mayabeque_ Agro ecological farms of San José de las Lajas will be part of the theoretical and practical program of the Sixth International Agro-ecological, Sustainable Agriculture and Cooperatives Meeting, scheduled from November 19 to 25 in Havana, according to the website of Radio Camoa.Â
A delegation with 35 farmers from 15 countries will visit this city on November 20 to exchange experiences with producers on how to achieve economic, ecological and social sustainability of farms, according to Dennis Fraga Acosta, president of the municipal bureau of the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) in the capital of Mayabeque.
Due to their practices to the care of the environment and the management of natural resources for the production of healthy food, the farms chosen for this tour are El Mulato, a multi-crop garden linked to the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences (INCA) and that stands out for the production of chickpeas and agroecological potatoes.
This visit also includes Oneida’s Fruit Farm, belonging to the Credits and Services Cooperative Paco Cabrera, which stands out for its high quality postures, as well as La ChiverÃa from the producer Medina, a grain producing farmt with a wide variety of beans.
Agroecological practices promote healthy and healthy agriculture, while protecting soil, water and biodiversity.
