Mayabeque, Cuba_ More than 300 thousand tons of cachaza are marketed by the producers of the Boris Luis Santa Coloma sugar mill, in the municipality of Madruga, for the tobacco campaign in Pinar del Río.

According to Radio Rebelde, the organic matter is the sugarcane bagasse from the harvests 2016-2017 and 2017-2018, after industrial processing for the production of sugar.

The director of the Unit of Attention to Producers of the sugar mill, Ana Bueno Guzmán, states that one of the purposes of the sugar sector is the diversification from the derivatives of the grass.

The production of cachaza currently benefits tobacco plantations. Previously, the livestock, forestry as well as the cooperative and peasant sectors have used this bio fertilizer.
