San José de las Lajas, Mayabeque_ The integral attention for the oncological patient in Mayabeque advances and is consolidated thanks to the Bronchoscopy service, inaugurated on May 9, 2017, at the General Teaching Hospital Leopoldito Martínez in San José de las Lajas, the Radio Camoa website reported. 

Just six months after the consultation was created, 26 patients benefited without any cost with this medical procedure, of which 16 are suspected cases of lung cancer, according to Dr. Liudmila Hernández Bringas.

The also First Degree Specialist in Pneumotisiology highlighted the importance of providing the service in the capital of the young province as a guarantee for the early detection of this malignancy, registered as having the highest incidence in the Cuban population.

Recognized as the most accurate histological diagnostic method in the study of this and other diseases associated with the respiratory tract, the application of Bronchoscopy in the territory is reverted in a greater efficiency of the treatments and with it a higher quality of life.

The results achieved by the team that works in the consultation (2 pneumologists and a nurse), were presented this December 5 in the Scientific Conference of MININT services, held at the seat of the People's Power Assembly of the demarcation.
