Mayabeque, Cuba_ "Preserving linguistic diversity and promoting pluri-linguism to support the Sustainable Development Goals" is the main motto this 2018 on the International Day of the Mother Tongue.

The event, proclaimed by the Organization for Science, Education and Culture (Unesco) on February 21, 2000, is celebrated on this same date every year throughout the world and at the headquarters of the organization.

The International Mother Language Day also pronounces this calendar for the assurance that all young people and a considerable proportion of adults, both men and women, are literate and have elementary notions of culture.
