Mayabeque, Cuba_ The baseball player from Mayabeque, Jonathan MartÃnez Marrero, integrates the Cuban selection for the Third World Baseball Championship, sub-15 year’s category, which began today and will extend up to August 7th.
This is the third opportunity in which this exceptional player wears the glorious uniform of the four letters, in an international tournament out of the country.
In his short trajectory Martinez Marrero has participated in the Pan-American Championship of sub-12 year’s category that took place on in Venezuela in 2012, where the team won the silver medal.        Â
Recently, from July 3 to 9 he integrated the Sub 16 selection in the XV Pan-American of the category held in Panama’s capital where he also contributed to achieve the second place.                                                                   Â
The World cup of the teenagers will celebrate its third edition in the Japanese city of Iwuaki. Cuba’s debut will be today facing Colombia, in match beginning at 12 in the night, hour of our country.      Â
After the the game with the Colombians, ours will compete in order with Japan on Saturday 30 and the following day against Australia, on August 1st they will meet with Korea and they will conclude the eliminatory phase versus the Czech Republic.                                                                                             Â
The Island’s selection directed by the Avileño Gerly Fleites is among the favorites to advance to the semifinal phase.
