Mayabeque, Cuba_ The Provincial Defense Council met with directors of companies, state and administrative institutions to coordinate actions aimed at minimizing the damaging effects of the powerful hurricane Irma, Mayabeque newspaper reports.
After accurate information about the meteor and its possible trajectory, they reviewed the problems that require special and timely attention.
Among them are the supply of drinking water to the population, the reservoirs, the generating sets, food production and the safeguarding of those corresponding to the basic basket.
They also offered indications to streamline agricultural crops at that stage and to advance as many as possible, to activate all water trucks for water supply, and to organize the transport required to evacuate the inhabitants of areas at risk of flooding.
According to the possible trajectory of the atmospheric phenomenon, Mayabeque will be affected by winds that can reach more than 100 kilometers per hour, penetrations of the sea first in the north coast and later in the south, besides the heavy rains.
Juan Miguel GarcÃa DÃaz, head of the Provincial Defense Council, pointed out that because of its position, intensity, area of influence and possible trajectory between the west and northeast, Irma constitutes a potential danger for Cuba.
