Mayabeque, Cuba: The Grandparents House, in the municipality of Güines, celebrated the World Adult Day in advance.

This institution opens its doors at 8:00 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon to offer, to the 28 elders, various services worth 25 pesos in national currency.

"We carry out cultural, sports, therapy, play therapy and music therapy activities," said the graduate in social and occupational rehabilitation, Maritza Pérez Toledo.

The 77-year-old Angela María Reyes Perales expresses the satisfaction of belonging to this center, where attention to this population segment is prioritized.

On October 1 the International Day of the Elderly is celebrate, instituted by the United Nations Organization in memory of the Mexican writer, Ema Godoy Lobato, who dedicated her life to working tirelessly for the well-being of grandparents.

It is necessary to promote the active participation of the elderly in a specific moment in which, both good physical functioning and adequate cognitive capacity and high commitment to life, place it in an acceptable level of psychotherapeutic participation.
