Mayabeque, Cuba_ Tambores de Bejucal, known as the Mayabeque train, start an intense work program in January, Granma newspaper publishes. 

According to its director, musician Alexis Hernández, on the 6th at 2:00 p.m. they will be at the closing ceremony of the International Anthropology Colloquium at the Casa de África, leading a parade through Old Havana. The 13th and 14th the group will participate in the festivities of San Antonio de los Baños.

In January, the Egrem and Bis Music have scheduled the presentation of two records of Los Tambores de Bejucal. This is the CD Yeyomozampello, in homage to Robelio Pérez López "Yeyo", founder of the group and Pedro Izquierdo, Pello Afrocán, and a compilation of works that the group has performed accompanying the Charangas of Bejucal.

On January 25, at 8:00 in the evening, they will have their first Peña, performed every month on 19 and 6 streets, in Bejucal, in tribute to Yeyo, and every Saturday of the month, starting at 9:00 a.m., they will perform the percussion workshops for girls and boys at the headquarters of Tambores de Bejucal ( on the interception of 9 and 16 streets).

"What is important is to promote our culture and promote the continuity of the Cuban music and our identity as a nation," according to Alexis Hernández, who affirmed that they will be in this year 2018 encouraging other community activities in Bejucal and several places of the demarcation.
