Mayabeque, Cuba_ Food production and economic development highlight the Basic Unit of Cooperative Production (UBPC) La Julia, of the municipality of Batabanó, in Mayabeque. 

This UBPC is dedicated to various crops, they plant beans, tomatoes and potatoes, the president of the entity, Esperanza Pérez García said.

More than 250 hectares make up its productive scenario. The harvests favor the inhabitants of the demarcation and Havana.

The financial profit comes from the organization, control and managerial styles, aimed at people’s consumption, their main objective.

The  cooperative complies with the 17 measures approved by the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers to eliminate the ties that held back the development of the productive forces. They include giving autonomy and legal personality, improving their bank credit facilities, greater flexibility in buying and selling operations, as well as granting them payment facilities.
