Mayabeque, Cuba_ The arrival of the electric train to Santa Cruz del Norte one hundred years ago, on March 31st, 2016, is going to be celebrated with different activities in that territory.

Esperanza Reyes, specialist from Mayabeque Base Business Unit, explained that a food and textiles and garments fair are among the activities to be carried out at Camilo Cienfuegos sugar mill of that municipality.

The Hershey Electric Railway was recently renovated with nine car-engines purchased in the Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) electric rail network of the Catalan government.

The train of Jersey, as it is known, is one of the most famous trains of Cuba. It is a relic and the only of its kind rolling in the country.

The train is almost a museum, takes off from Casa Blanca neighborhood in Havana to Matanzas, trip that lasts just over three hours.
